Day 1: Historic Center

See Malaga Cathedral
In the afternoon, make your way to Malaga Cathedral, affectionately known as “La Manquita” (the one-armed lady) due to its unfinished second tower. Explore the impressive interior adorned with ornate decorations and stunning artworks.

Day 2: Picasso Tour & Beach Day
Morning
Picasso Tour
Start your day with a visit to the Picasso Museum, housed in the Palacio de Buenavista, a beautiful 16th-century palace. Explore the extensive collection of works by Malaga’s most famous native son, Pablo Picasso, spanning his early years to his later masterpieces.
After immersing yourself in the world of Picasso, take a leisurely stroll through Malaga’s picturesque Old Town, stopping at Plaza de la Merced, where you’ll find a statue of the artist himself and his birth house, today an interesting museum, Casa Natal Picasso.
Afternoon
Gibralfaro Castle and Viewpoint
Now, it will be time to make your way to Gibralfaro Castle, a historic fortress perched atop a hill overlooking Malaga. Take a leisurely stroll up the winding pathway or opt for a short bus ride to reach the castle entrance. Once there, marvel at the impressive architecture and panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea from the Mirador de Gibralfaro (viewpoint).
Relax on the Malagueta beach
Next, descend from the castle and head towards Malagueta Beach, located just a short walk from the city center. Spend the afternoon soaking up the sun, swimming in the refreshing waters, or simply relaxing on the golden sands.
As the day draws to a close, treat yourself to a delicious seafood dinner at one of the beachfront restaurants, where you can savor fresh-caught fish and seafood while enjoying panoramic views of the sea.
Day 3: Trip to Ronda
Escape the hustle and bustle of the city with a day trip to the picturesque town of Ronda, nestled in the mountains of the Malaga province.
Transport information
- Opt for the freedom of renting a convertible car, which we can deliver to your holiday rental. Take the A-357 and A-367 highways and embark on a scenic drive through Andalusian mountains. The drive takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
- Alternatively, you can get to Ronda by train. Head to Málaga María Zambrano train station. From there, you can catch a direct train to Ronda. The journey takes approximately 2 hours. Be sure to check the train schedules in advance, as there are several departures throughout the day.
- Upon arrival in Ronda, the train station is located a short walk from the town center, making it convenient to begin your exploration of this charming destination.
Check the Puente Nuevo and Old Town
Start your day with a visit to the iconic Puente Nuevo, a breathtaking bridge spanning the El Tajo gorge. Marvel at the stunning views of the surrounding countryside and the dramatic cliffs below as you explore this architectural masterpiece.
Next, wander through the narrow streets of Ronda’s historic Old Town, stopping to admire landmarks such as the Mondragón Palace and the Church of Santa María la Mayor. Don’t forget to sample some local wines at one of the town’s charming bodegas.
For lunch, indulge in traditional Andalusian cuisine at a local restaurant, where you can savor regional specialties such as rabo de toro (bull’s tail stew) and serrano ham.
After lunch, take some time to explore Ronda’s rich cultural heritage at the Plaza de Toros de Ronda, where you’ll find exhibits on the history of the interesting “Corrida” tradition.
As the day comes to an end, soak in the serene atmosphere of Ronda’s Plaza de España before heading back to Malaga on the train.
Day 4: Art and nature
Morning
Malaga Art
Begin your day with a visit to the Centre Pompidou Malaga, a branch of the famous Parisian museum located in the vibrant Muelle Uno port area. Explore contemporary artworks by artists such as Frida Kahlo, Salvador Dalí, and Marc Chagall, housed in a striking glass cube building overlooking the sea.
Afternoon
Paseo del Parque
Next, head to the nearby Malaga Park, also known as Paseo del Parque, a beautiful green oasis in the heart of the city. Stroll along its tree-lined pathways, admire the colorful flower beds, and relax by the tranquil fountains and ponds.
For lunch, enjoy a picnic in the park or dine at one of the nearby cafes offering al fresco dining with views of the park.
Catamaran ride through the Bay
As the day winds down, take a leisurely walk along Malaga’s scenic waterfront promenade, lined with palm trees, shops, and restaurants and enjoy the sunset over the Mediterranean Sea on a catamaran ride departing from Muelle Uno.

Day 5: Adventure at Caminito del Rey
Today, venture out of Malaga for an exhilarating day at Caminito del Rey, one of Spain’s most thrilling hiking trails. Start your day early with a hearty breakfast, as you’ll need plenty of energy for the day ahead.
There are 2 options: you can either book your entry tickets a few weeks in advance and travel to the Caminito on your own or book a full tour with transport included.
Transport information
If you decide to organize the tour on your own:
- Rent a convertible car and enjoy your feedom. The drive takes about an hour from Malaga and offers scenic views of the Andalusian countryside.
- Alternatively, you can get to Caminito del Rey from Malaga by train from María Zambrano station to El Chorro station. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes. From El Chorro station, you can catch a shuttle bus to the entrance of Caminito del Rey. Be sure to check the train and shuttle bus schedules in advance, as they can vary depending on the season.
Hike and enjoy the nature
Once you arrive at Caminito del Rey, prepare for an awe-inspiring adventure as you hike along narrow pathways clinging to the steep cliffs of the Gaitanes Gorge. Marvel at the breathtaking views of the turquoise waters below and the rugged rock formations towering above.
As you traverse the trail, you’ll encounter suspension bridges, tunnels, and stunning natural landscapes, providing plenty of opportunities to capture unforgettable photos. Take your time to soak in the beauty of this unique natural wonder and appreciate the thrill of walking along one of the world’s most famous hiking routes.
After completing the hike, reward yourself with a leisurely lunch at a nearby restaurant, where you can savor traditional Andalusian cuisine and relax after your adrenaline-filled adventure.
In the afternoon, take some time to explore the surrounding area. Visit the picturesque village of Ardales, located nearby, or enjoy a scenic drive through the stunning countryside surrounding Caminito del Rey.
As the day comes to an end, return to Malaga, taking in the memories of your unforgettable day at Caminito del Rey.
Day 6: Trip to Nerja
Nerja awaits, offering a perfect blend of history, natural wonders, and seaside charm. Choose your preferred mode of transportation and let’s dive into a day of exploration!

Next, wander through the charming streets of Nerja’s old town, making your way to the iconic Balcony of Europe (Balcón de Europa). Perched on a rocky promontory overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, this scenic viewpoint offers panoramic vistas that are sure to take your breath away.
Afterward, head to the coast and unwind on one of Nerja’s beautiful beaches, such as the popular Burriana Beach (Playa Burriana).
